Hօgwarts Castle Architecture

Add the Hogwarts Castle to your Architecture collection.

A lot of talented builders have worked on this iconic castle and made astonishing creations, but most of them where enormous; really expensive or didn't use all existing pieces.

I tried to make Hogwarts as close and detailed as possible to the movie versions (yes, plural, the castle changes a lot in the movies) while maintaining a size that is comparable to other offical Architecture sets. It was a struggle to use only existing and non rare parts-color combinations to keep price low, but i think I managed it.

As a funny plus the instructions also include some info on the various buildings taken from https://harrypotter.fandom.com, so you might learn something new when building.

  • I used the new Stud.io Part Designer for the Hogwarts Castle tile in instructions and renders. A png to print for a 1x8 tile is also provided with the instructions.
  • The interior has a lot of yellow bricks (which normally are cheaper) but you can change to whichever color you want because they are not visible once completed. Bascially every yellow piece in part list can be substituted, just don't change all the 1x1 pieces, as they are used in the quiddich pitch and need indeed to be yellow.

Total parts: 1347 - 253 Different
30 x 30 x 23 studs
                   24 x 24 x 18 cm
                   9.4 x 9.4 x 7.2 inches

UPDATE 2019.07.02 - Small changes on page 282->285 when constructing The Great Hall. For better stability I removed two 1x1 and two 1x6 and substituted them with two 1x3 and two 1x4 to cover the same 1x7 space.

I purchased the plans for this set several months ago and have been slowly purchasing the parts.  I just put it together and couldn't be happier with the build or the end result.  Thank you for such a wonderful creation.

    Hey there!
This set looks absolutely fantastic and I am planning on getting the materials to build it, but I am a little confused about how the UPDATE 2019.07.02 plays into things. I have 2 questions:
1: Have these changes been implemented into the online parts list?
2: If not, what should I change as I'm ordering my parts?
    Thanks a lot!

The changes where really minor anyhow, just a couple of Normal plates. Message is for user that bought the instructions before.

Fantastic model. I finished building it today and enjoyed it a lot. The castle is absolutely beautiful and I will definitely keep it for display. The instructions are also very well made and easy to follow. I can recommend the build to every severe Harry Potter fan!
    Just two remarks:
    • The Rebrickable part list has 17x Plate 1x1 in light bluish gray, the list at the end of the instructions says 15x. Following the instructions I needed 15 of them so the online list doesn't seem to be up to date.
    • The courtyard in front of the great hall that consists of 7 tan 1x1 bricks with headlight does not fit in an optimal way. The headlight studs protrude just a little too much and as a result when the 1x3 tile is placed on top it is bending a little bit under pressure. This can also be seen in the two user-provided pictures of the model, where there is a little gap between the headlight bricks as a consequence. I will see if I can come up with a solution for this.

      Thanks for your comment:
      • the 1x1 plates where 2 more following the "UPDATE 2019.07.02", now i modified the part list on site
      • For the headlight brick unfortunately is a common problem with that piece that sometimes sticks out of the standard 1x1 brick space a little too much. You may try switching with other pieces or just rotate it 180° :)

What is the piece you added to the window near the greenhouses?  It looks great.  I'd like to add it to my set, if you don't mind.

I've just finished building the model and it was one of the best LEGO experiences of my life! I've wanted a LEGO Hogwarts castle in microscale for ages and the one you designed is just perfect. I think I like it more than the 6 000 pieces version that LEGO made (it was good, but just a facade). Thanks a lot! I'm ecstatic!
The lego math involved in the curved roof of the Turris Magnus was mindblowing. I was very impressed.
The pieces were easy to find and cheap, nothing too fancy.
Your a very talented designer. Please keep creating more models, I'll be following you for sure.
    Thanks again!

Great design.  The Quiddich court does it for me.  That blast of color really sets this off!
